Since summer last year i was obsessed with searching online looking for home business opportunities. I have looked at all kinds until I came across a home business opportunity that i had researched and was sure was not a scam or hyped up.
There is a myriad of opportunities and sorting the wheat from the chaff is pretty difficult.
I personally would follow these rules as to what to look for in a home business opportunities:
1) The idea is simple - Could a 10 year old understand it and describe it? If you personally do not understand what you will be doing and cannot understand where the money and profit is coming from, you are doomed to failure.
2) Is the total expense of the home based business opportunity laid out in full? ie. read the small print. There may be hidden monthly or commissions to pay
3) There must be contact details for the business, use these, ask questions.
4) Sorry, but a little market research is needed. Are prices competitive? Is the business viable? Is there anyone else that you can find that are chatting in forums about the opportunity?
5) Join a relevant forum and ask questions. You can be direct about the opportunity or ask for advice on where to start. I have had some good eye opening moments on forums!
This process does take time and can be frustrating. It seems that when you start looking that everyone is trying to scam you, to make you buy home business opportunities where there is no money to be made or you are worried that the only money being made will go into their pockets!
I still wonder about this when I browse the web but with experience you do pick up some warning signs!
I have listed a couple of related articles below for you to see more about the subject:
The Creation Of Our Online Business: Our Story Of Where We Start To... where We End Up.
The Wheels Are In Motion - Starting Up The Business
The growth in home business opportunities is massive. This is partly to do with the credit crunch, but also with more and more people having access to the internet. As more and more people search for a home business opportunity the more opportunities present themselves. Good and bad.
The list above is by no means exhausted but can hopefully help with selection of an opportunity. Remember to mention this blog if it helps ;-)

The business is currently doing well. We have learnt some HTML coding which has helped slightly with google rankings and linking etc...
We have started linking with other websites as this is an excellent way to increase your google ranking and capture other customers that we would have most certainly missed. We did not know about linking 2 weeks ago until i got an email from another fashion based company asking for a link. My first reaction was, "eh!?"
Since discovering this style of marketing i have linked with a few sites. It has also enabled me to have conversations with more experienced e-commerce site owners and bloggers which have all helped massively!
Our Facebook page is nearing 800 fans and its amazing how we are doing on there.
We added a watch to the site, a Quicksilver resistor watch that within 30 minutes had 20 views on our website!!!
Our major push as a business this next 4 weeks is to start another blog and to start using some paid advertising. Google Adwords is looking good and i was also thinking about some Face Book action.......
Thanks,
Blog soon

And we're Off
The hours and days are adding up and Fashion Front is making sales and audiences have been able to read our opportunities page with a view to starting their own business.
Our major break through occurred when we officially went live at the start of the week and utilized the power of network marketing. We use both Facebook and Twitter as they allow us to post our special offers etc straight to the dektop of our networks. We both hate in your face sales and especially disagree with nagging friends to buy clothes or accessories from us. In letting my community know about the business many have come to us with offers of help and to learn more about what we are doing. This is what we wanted!
The learning curve for our journey has been really steep but very enjoyable. As we learn, we are understanding more the processes of marketing although thousands of miles away from where we should be. Actually, an interesting point, as we marketed, friends of mine realised what we were trying to do and showed great skills in marketing and also networking that have helped greatly. Thanks!
The first major meeting with Fashion Front is tomorrow since the Facebook launch. We will be planning the marketing budgets, how we are going to market, who we are going to target etc...
Really looking forward to it. As an incentive in the first few months me and the team are setting some goals that we agree on and if hit, some paid for merchendise!!! I personally am going for the Blue Vestel Zeppelin watch which happens to be on offer at the moment!!! I think I'll put it on offer about the time i come to get it for myself after I have reached my targets!!! Is that tight??? haha.
Catch up soon!

The wheels are in motion - starting up the business
Where do you start when building a business?
We looked all over the internet and read many blogs and forum strings about the subject. The subject is massive and its difficult to see the wood for the trees. There's stuff on starting up, setting up a company, sales, marketing, business ideas, e-commerse, earning extra money, corporate law, forums, blog, social networks, the list goes on. I even came across advice on what to do if you make too much money to spend. HaHa.
We decided to discuss what we wanted to achieve as goals and go in with a plan. Luckily we have similar goals so this was easy. They were all about building a future, not neccesserily creating money to line our pockets. Our plan - probably our first mistake - not having one in particular.
For the first 2 weeks we never wrote down action points, goals for the month, week and day and haphazardly went about business with little or no direction. Fortunately we decided to take hold of the reins and start working smart, not neccessarily hard, or like a busy fool!!!
We now have listings on business directories, a couple of forums, Twitter, a Facebook page that is soon to be released, google adverts, Adsence etc... Our day, week and month are being planned with specific goals that we must hit.

The creation of our online business: Our story from start to….where we end up!
2 brothers, 1 dream.
An online business to run in our spare time. In these blogs we will diarise our start up business from: the initial idea, deciding what we wanted to do, planning, buying, developing and the constant trials and excitment of running a growing business.
Our story begins in late 2009, after my brother and I have dreamt of owning our own business. We have read autobiographies of top business people, read internet blogs and sites about owning your own online business and felt overwhelmed with the amount of information there is out there!
We had an idea, made some calls to people we knew that were experienced in running businesses plus people that have better technical abilities. Coincidently, I am pretty bad technically, ironic I know but I learnt ways of creating a less technically challenging environment so I can focus on the things I want to learn. I’m personally more interested in business, making money and developing those skills. Our aim is to run more businesses so in throwing ourselves into our first venture, we have expanded our horizons. One thing that we are hugely proud about is that we have taken the plunge and started on our path to reach, or at least work towards our goal…. We are enjoying the journey!
People have different reasons for starting a business. We want to learn to run businesses so that we can buy and develop more and eventually have them run themselves. We want more freedom and time to spend with friends and families and not worry how many days holiday we have left for the year in our regular jobs!!! A lot to ask and for a while I thought not possible until I started allowing myself to learn to expand my horizons.
My brother and I have made a leap of faith and will keep blogging our progress as we learn, make sales, not make sales and I expect to have you laughing your socks off at some mistakes we make along the way.
Interested in taking a look at our Website so far? visit http://www.fashion-front.co.uk/ following this link can also help you create a business for yourself!!
We will also be posting a facebook and twitter page over the next couple of days so will post this in our next blog.
Hope to hear from you soon!
